Who Are We?

Ferndown U3A was founded in 1997 and is part of a nationwide movement that promotes lifelong learning. Currently there are over 550 members, from Ferndown and the surrounding areas. It is a voluntary organisation for retired and semi-retired people to meet together and learn new skills. Social events and visits are also arranged – study tours of italy, Spain and Malta are among visits organised.

Who can join?

Anyone can join, if they are able to attend groups which run during the day. Most of our members are  semi-retired or retired, but there is no age limit. Members have very varied experiences and acquire diverse skills during their lives and some are able to share these by offering educational, creative and leisure activities. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal.

What Do We Do

Group subjects are as varied as table tennis and badminton, to languages, history and art, with several bridge groups playing during the week.  There is an  annual fee which cover access to all groups (no weekly charges) although trips and outing may incur additional costs.

New members are always welcome!
